Dressed-up menswear is a neat alternative for the evening - add a touch of glamour with silk ties, cummerbunds, and tuxedos
A pair of sparkly trousers, teamed with a plunging shirt and heels - as seen at Michael Kors - is the perfect formula for subverted andro-glamour
The trend showed its more sensuous side at Dolce and Gabbana and Moschino, where monochrome was broken up with flourishes of ornate sequins and gilded embroidery

Wear for day or night as a new alternative to black
For maximum impact, wear head-to-toe and, for extra wow-factor, choose sequins for a show-stopping look. Dolce & Gabbana's emerald dress could stop traffic.
If full-on colour-blocking is a step too far, tone it down by investing in a ruby or amethyst-coloured winter coat or in accessories in precious shades of sapphire or garnet.
